Masterchef Australia 2016 is cooking up another mouthwatering season as the show returns on air this May 1. But we before we dive into the season premiere, here are some of the things fans should look forward to in Season 8.
Judges Matt Preston, George Calombaris and Gary Mehigan are ready to whip contestants to shape in MasterChef Australia Season 8. When the show first made its run in Australia, he initially thought that it wouldn’t survive that long. Seven seasons later, MasterChef Australia is still one of the most-watched shows in the country. But this year the show will attempt to top itself with bigger challenges and more heated competition.
Network Ten has promised to “bring more amazing food, remarkable stories, inspiration contestants and incredible dishes” to MasterChef Australia Season 8, Daily Mail reports. In the trailer for the program, Marco Pierre White praised a mystery dish, calling it the “greatest dessert” he’s ever tasted in MasterChef.
Chef Nigella Lawson will also make an appearance on the show as a guest judge. A Redditor hinted that Lawson will join the panel of judges during the fete challenge week, where teams will serve at food stalls at the Showgrounds.
Several other challenges are also rumored to take place including a Chinese New Year food market challenge and a pop-up restaurant challenge. There’s also a challenge that reportedly took place in San Francisco, California.
The show has also gathered an interesting lineup of culinary aspirants this year. Former soap opera star Theresa Visintin puts her cooking skills to the test, according to News.com.au. Two siblings will also go head to head against each other on the show. There’s also returning contestant Cecelia Wong, who appeared in the 2014 edition of MasterChef Australia but had to withdraw after sustaining a head injury. Other contestants include a waitress, barista, call center agent and park ranger.
Fans of the show took to Twitter to express their excitement.
