The internet went crazy after rumors emerged that Margot Robbie and Emma Watson will star in the lesbian version of Brokeback Mountain.
The original 2005 Academy Award-winning movie featured Jake Gyllenhaal and the late actor Heath Ledger. The two played gay cowboys who fell in love while working together.
Satirical website The Portly Gazelle wrote that the River Road Entertainment confirmed the Brokeback Mountain remake. The storyline would be the same as the original film except for the gender of the main characters.
The site quoted Robbie saying: “As an Australian actor, this obviously means a lot to me. I hope to do the Heath Ledgers’ role justice.”
Watson, on the other hand, allegedly expressed gratitude for the opportunity to play a character that is different from who she is. The actress reportedly thinks that playing a role that has a totally different experiences than herself is what acting is all about. “From what I’ve seen, the script and the other people involved with this, I think we’re going to make a marvelous film,” she was quoted as saying.
Rumors have it that the remake may possibly release in 2017.
Although the project seems to be far from happening, many are excited for its possibility. Others, however, slammed the report outright.

Robbie and Watson have yet to confirm their roles in the alleged remake or give a statement in this regard. Should there will be a Brokeback Mountain remake, Margot Robbie and Emma Watson may not have time to do it.
Margot Robbie starred in the most recent DC movie, Suicide Squad. Although the film received mediocre review from critics, many praised Robbie’s performance as Harley Quinn. The Aussie actress is expected to make a Harley Quinn standalone movie.
Watson, on the other hand, is set to appear in the highly-anticipated Beauty and the Beast remake. The actress rose to fame when she starred in the Harry Potter series.
