Manny Pacquiao had previously expressed that he definitely wanted to enter the ring for the final time before his retirement which should be his farewell match. As we continue to speculate the innumerable possibilities surrounding his final opponent, Pacquiao did vest his interests in a rematch with Floyd Mayweather. Later Pacquiao found it more feasible to fight Amir Khan rather than Mayweather.
Pacquiao will be naming his final opponent on Friday and rumors are strong that he will be taking on Timothy Bradley instead of Amir Khan.
According to the International Business Times, “Bradley is one of three boxers that Top Rank CEO Bob Arum said Pacquiao has been considering for a bout on April 9 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.”
Earlier reports suggested that Terence Crawford and Amir Khan were being considered as options for the fight.
Recently, Monica Bradley, Timothy Bradley’s wife and manager, concluded some details with Top Rank President Todd duBoef.
“A lot can change in the next three days, but Todd and I have developed a good relationship. I like the way we do business,” Monica Bradley said via the Los Angeles Times.
However, Pacquiao trainer Freddie Roach expressed that Pacquiao might face a less established opponent upon his return.
“I want Danny Garcia, that’s my choice. That’s the easiest fight in the (expletive) world, you can tell his dad [Angel Garcia] that as well,” Roach told Boxing News in August.
After his match with Mayweather on May 2, Pacquiao underwent a shoulder surgery which resulted in his temporary exit from the boxing ring.
Pacquiao is still ruling the boxing news even though he is not even in training. Pacquiao remains the biggest, most marketable name in the sport. Pacquiao is all set to retire from boxing as he wants to focus on his full time political career as a senator. But, he wants to leave the ring with a bang.
