The biggest news of the summer transfer season is Paul Pogba and his return to Manchester United from Juventus. The Manchester United website finally confirmed the completed transfer on Tuesday, Aug. 9. Pogba returns to Old Trafford on a five-year deal for 110 million euros.
The club confirmed the move on Sunday, when they unleashed the hashtag #pogback. They simultaneously made the announcement that Juventus has allowed the player to head to the AON Training Centre to undergo a medical exam. This is a necessary part of every player transfer. Paparazzi have been busy following Pogba around Manchester, as he went about the completion of the mega transfer.
Finally, after months of speculation, he has been nailed down on a five-year deal with the option of a one year extension. ““I am delighted to rejoin United. It has always been a club with a special place in my heart and I am really looking forward to working with José Mourinho.” he said.
Meanwhile, team manager Jose Mourinho is also delighted to once again be at the helm of a team that boasts so much talent. “Paul is one of the best players in the world and will be a key part of the United team I want to build here for the future,” he said. Mourinho already brought in Swedish superstar Zlatan Ibrahimovic earlier this summer. The Swede scored Manchester United’s winning goal in last Sunday’s Community Shield against Leicester City.
With such big new signings, Mourinho is reportedly gearing up to offload a number of players. He needs to recoup some of the money that was invested into Paul Pogba and his record transfer fee. German star Bastian Schweinsteiger and Juan Mata are looking to be in danger of the chopping block after appearing to lose favor with Mourinho.
