“Magic Mike” is officially coming to a Las Vegas stage next year. This, actor Channing Tatum – Magic Mike himself – confirmed.
According to US Weekly, Tatum enlisted the help of a couple of “super sexy” men and “really cute” puppies to announce the show. “We’re going to start Magic Mike Live in Las Vegas at the Hard Rock [in] March 2017,” he said. “God knows we have enough gentlemen clubs in the world. So, let’s start the first gentle-ladies club…Or, maybe not so gentle. Depends on what you’re into.”
In a statement, the “Gambit” actor explained why they will recreate the movie on stage. “Magic Mike has been a special and very personal project for me…this show is a natural extension of that,” he said. “So while I won’t be on stage as Mike, ‘Magic Mike’ Live Las Vegas is my vision and I’m looking forward to spending a lot of time…creating something that will give women what they really want.”
MTV News pointed out that Tatum is giving fans the power to dictate what would be featured in the show. “We want to change what male entertainment is… It should be women-empowering, instead of just about the guys going and getting naked,” he said. Fans are encouraged to submit requests through their website.
The Las Vegas show will reportedly be “a sizzling 360-degree dance and acrobatic striptease spectacular.” It will recreate the movie’s Club Domina and will feature around a dozen men. Could fans still request for the actor to take the stage in Las Vegas? Tatum is not ruling it out. “Look, if I’m ever in shape enough to actually do the show again, I will absolutely step onstage,” he said. “I’m sure there will be a ton of crazy cameos.”
