Fans were outraged after they had to wait for more than two hours for Madonna to show up on stage for her “Rebel Heart” concert in Brisbane, Australia on Wednesday.

According to CBS News, Madonna’s concert was supposed to start at 9 pm local time but the pop star did not take the Brisbane Entertainment Center stage until 11:22 pm

By then, hundreds of furious fans had left the venue and marched on to the ticket office to demand refunds after BEC made a public announcement that the show would be delayed until no later than 10:30 p.m.

When the show finally started, the “Material Girl” singer thanked the crowd but joked they had arrived too early. “We started late – that hardly ever happens. You were here too early. You should have taken your time doing your hair and makeup. Then I wouldn’t have been late,” said Madonna.

Time magazine reported that despite the late start, many fans still enjoyed the concert once it began.

The show finished a little after 1 am and those relying on public transport endured further waits in taxi ranks as the last scheduled train left the Boondall train station at 12:17 am, Brisbane Times reported.

The singer is set to play in Brisbane once more on Thursday night before finishing her tour in Sydney.

On Thursday, BEC issued a statement warning fans to expect another late night for the second day of “Rebel Heart” concert in the city. It said:  “Following a late start last night, fans should note, the timing for tonight’s performance may also be delayed. We encourage concert-goers to keep this in consideration when making arrangements to get home safely. As updates for the timing of today’s concert become available, they will be posted on social media.”

It can be recalled that Madonna also got emotional at her concert in Auckland, New Zealand earlier this month as she mentioned her custody battle with ex-husband Guy Ritchie over their son.
