Murtaza Ahmadi, a five year old boy from Afghanistan is longing to meet his soccer idol, Lionel Messi after a photo of him went viral on social media. He is seen wearing a plastic shirt , with the teams colours and with Messi’s name and team number on the front.
Murtaza hails from the central Afghan province of Ghazni, who even has his own Twitter handle (@MurtazaMessi2). Photos he has shared for the public include him in his plastic shirt and videos of Messi playing football. With the photos going viral and being spread everywhere, Messi finally saw this photo.
Lionel’s management team has expressed interest in meeting the five year old fan and as promised he will fly Murtaza out into Spain soon. The Barcelona management team will be in touch with the Afghanistan football team to plan a venue and set a definite date. The spokesman for the Afghani team, Syed Ali Kazemi has expressed the passion the child has for football and will do whatever it takes to train Murtaza to be in their football team.
The Inquisitr later found out that the shirt was made by his brother, Homayoun, who wrote the name Messi and a number 10 on the back. The young footballer found the bag himself and asked his brother if he could make the jersy out of it.
“We can’t even imagine buying the original Messi jersey. We just can’t afford it so, to make my brother happy, I made a shirt out of that plastic bag for him.”
– Homayoun, Murtaza’s older brother
Lionel Messi, well-known football star has been awarded his fifth Ballon D’or, an award given to the world’s best soccer player. At only 28 years old, he has now beaten his rival, Christiano Ronaldo, as the worlds best footballer. We are hoping Murtaza wins this award when he plays for Afghanistan.
