Barcelona play Rayo Vallecano in their La Liga campaign on Thursday, March 3, at the EStadio De Vallecas, starting 9 pm CET.

As per the official FC Barcelona site, the Catalonian side should be looking to set a new record in Spanish football by taking their undefeated run to 35 games. Last time around, Neymar pumped four goals and Luiz Suarez added another to thrash the Rayo side 5-2 back last year.  And this started the current amazing winning streak.

Barcelona coach Luis Enrique was quoted as saying, “I have zero concern about losing possession against Rayo. Against any other team I would be concerned, but not Rayo.”

As per the SB Nation reports, Thursday’s match might give Luis Enrique a few selection headaches as  Dani Alves, Rafinha Alcantara, and both Sergi Roberto and Sergio Busquets are doubtful ahead of the clash. Enrique might rest the “Messi-Suarez-Neymar trident”.

The Rayo side might start without Miku and Pablo Hernandez. However, the side’s top-scorer Javi Guerra looked positive to start proceedings against Barcelona.

Alberto Perea, the Barça B right winger who spent two seasons at Vallecas under Jémez, commented ahead of the match. “Rayo play different to other teams” he told “There are clearly similarities to Barça’s style, but Barça have the best players in the world, and it shows.”

“I played against Barça at Vallecas and they put four past us! But if Rayo are focused and don’t make mistakes then they can make things very difficult. That said, I still think Barça will win.”
