There’s no looking back for Kendall Jenner who got her first big break walking for the Marc Jacobs show. Now, two years after innumerable campaigns and prestigious runway shows later, the young Jenner has landed a Vogue US cover.
It is not surprising that she shared the news with her followers by announcing it on Instagram. Clearly emotional with a sense of achievement, the caption of the picture revealed how honoured she felt. “Y’all I could cry! My very own Vogue Magazine. THE WHOLE THING. JUST ME. WHAT!! so honored to be the special edition issue @voguemagazine thank you! shot by the amazing @mariotestino ❤”
Jenner donned a red polka dot crop top by Proenza Schouler and black bikini bottoms for the cover, reveals Hollywood Life. She sported a blue and white checkered Tory Burch shirt and red plaid Marc Jacobs pants for some of the other shots.
She has given a sneak peek at what the special April issue is about on her website. She shares that the issue has a story elaborating Jenner’s social media strategy. “I can’t believe I’m on the cover of Vogue’s special edition April cover!!! The issue, which is about me and my social following, will come with April’s Vogue (featuring Rihanna on the cover 😍),” states Jenner. “All the images were shot by the one and only Mario Testino, of course. You can see the rest of the photos and read the whole story, written by Robert Sullivan, on Vogue.com now! So, so thankful for everyone involved in making this happen—most importantly all of you guys!” she added.
Elder sister Kim Kardashian West congratulated Kendall by sending her congratulations on Twitter. “WOW @KendallJenner looks so beautiful on this special edition US Vogue Cover!!!!! Sooooo proud!!!!!” tweeted Kardashian West, who has also graced the cover of the premier fashion magazine with her husband, Kanye.
The April edition of Vogue US brings Kendall Jenner’s tally to five covers, reveals Bustle. She has graced the covers of Vogue Paris, Japan, China, and Vogue Brazil so far. However, the current issue focuses a lot on the young model. Even the ads featured in the issue contains her.
Ace photographer Mario Testino shot those for the magazine. Testino has a number of high profile shoots to his credit. Prior to Jenner, he shot Kristen Stewart for the Chanel 2016 Eyes Collection.
Twitter was quick to react to Kendall Jenner’s cover. A few users felt that the model gets away with everything great because of her last name. There were some who loved and some who hated the cover.
I hate that Kendall Jenner got the cover of Vogue magazine just because she's a "Kardashian" when there's models that work 10 times harder.
