The fight was aired at ESPN and on pay-per-view with other cards in the match up being Michael Conlan vs Jarrett Owen, Jerwin Ancahjas vs Teiru Kinoshita and Shane Mosley Jr. vs David Toussaint.
Before the fight, Pacquiao (59-6-2, 38 KOs) came out of a unanimous decision win against Jessie Vargas last November. On the other hand, the undefeated Horn (16-0-1, 11 KOs) headed into his fight against Pacquiao with an impressive round 6 TKO win against Ali Fuoka last December. The records show that Horn is the less experienced fighter of the two.
Forbes notes that Horn’s speed won’t be enough to catch Pacquiao of guard. What Horn has going for him though is his sturdy chin which could prove to be strong enough to handle the hands of Pacquiao that have considerably gone weaker since he went a notch up in the weight class.
CBS Sports compares the fighting style of Horn to that of Ricky Hatton’s. This doesn’t spell good news for the Australian native as Pacquiao easily got through this aggressively style by knocking out Hatton in the 2nd round.
Coming to Australia, Pacquiao is the clear underdog with Horn being the crowd favorite. This shouldn’t be a surprise though as it is Horn’s homeland. Still, all calls are for Pacquiao taking the fight either by TKO or UD.
