Despite several reports claiming that “Iron Man 4” is highly unlikely to be produced, rumours about the fourth solo film still thrive online.  With the success of “Captain America: Civil War” over the weekend, fans are definitely clamouring for another Tony Stark headliner.

Robert Downey Jr., who plays the iconic superhero, has recently confirmed that he is not about to retire his suit just yet.  He did mention that he will still play “Iron Man” in future Marvel movies but has yet to confirm if a solo flick is underway.

“I don’t know how long I’ll do it for,” Downey Jr. told Daily Star. “I’ll keep playing Iron Man for a couple more years, I guess.”

Should “Iron Man 4” see the light of day, several fan theories have already speculated on the next’s instalment’s villain.  This early, and despite its unconfirmed status, fans are already expressing how Fin Fang Foom can be the most fitting antagonist for the next movie.

As Moviepilot hinted, the dragon-like extraterrestrial could most likely be Stark’s nemesis if execs will decide to pick things up where “Iron Man 3” left off.  As the site mentioned, Fin Fang Foom is the source of Mandarin’s, the previous movie’s villain, powers.

“It should be appropriate that Stark should get rid of him,” Morning News USA reported. “This would also be a good chance for Marvel to redeem themselves from the whole Mandarin fiasco of the previous film.”

As reports suggested, not many were impressed with how the story unfolded in the third movie.  The unexpected plot-twist of having Ben Kingsley as the drunkard and pathetic actor who pretended to be Mandarin fell short of the audience’s expectations.

Nonetheless, “Iron Man 3” grossed $409 million in North America and $806.4 million in other countries for a worldwide total of $1.2 billion.  When combined with the two earlier “Iron Man” movies, the entire franchise has raked in a total of $2.4 billion at the box office.
