The hype for “Iron Man 4” remains to be at an all-time high, most especially since “Captain America: Civil War” hit theatres recently.  While Robert Downey Jr. previously confirmed that he will still don the Iron Man suit in future Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) flicks, the actor has kept mum about the rumoured fourth instalment.

New rumours claimed that the highly anticipated flick could be released after 2020 since Marvel already has their plates full with several MCU phase 3 movies.  Apart from that, it is speculated that execs are contemplating whether having Robert Downey Jr. reprise his role as Tony Stark in the new movie could be the best move for the franchise.

As some would argue, RDJ could be too old to play Tony Stark should an “Iron Man 4” release in 2020 push through.  Other sources are also claiming that Marvel might have to reconsider casting a less expensive actor given that Downey Jr. is the highest-paid “superhero” in the team.

“As his involvement continues, it is possible that Disney and Marvel may refuse to take him for another movie if his fee is too high, even with the knowledge that the ‘Iron Man’ films have generated billions of dollars for the studios,” Christian Today stated in an old report.

However, despite all the uncertainties, many are still believing that an “Iron Man 4” movie will still be produced. Out of sheer excitement and anticipation, some fans have even speculated about the villain that would appear in the next movie.

This early, and despite its unconfirmed status, fans are already expressing how Fin Fang Foom can be the most fitting antagonist for the next movie.

As Moviepilot hinted, the dragon-like extraterrestrial could most likely be Stark’s nemesis if execs will decide to pick things up where “Iron Man 3” left off.  As the site mentioned, Fin Fang Foom is the source of Mandarin’s, the previous movie’s villain, powers.

On the other hand, a Crossmap report hinted on a very interesting idea for the fourth movie’s antagonist. Given that the young Spider-Man already appeared in “Civil War,” many are trying to hinge on that connection and somehow gave it a highly unlikely spin.  Since Tony appears to act as a mentor to Peter Parker, fans are claiming that it would be an interesting twist to have Marvel pit them against each other.
