Over the years, Apple has kept its position as a strong market leader in the smartphone industry all thanks to its line of iPhones. However, the company never went the extra mile to release a variant that came with durability features such as waterproofing and dustproofing, leaving the protection measures to the likes of companies that make shells and cases for it. That may soon change as new reports claim that the Cupertino-based company will be equipping the iPhone 7 with durability features.

According to recent reports, Apple has purportedly finished the third phase of testing for the iPhone 7, and it will come with dustproofing and waterproofing to boot. Furthermore, the company’s prototypes for the upcoming handset come with a touch-sensitive capacitive button that won’t require a click to actuate. It will only need to be touched. Moreover, there’s also the possibility that it will have the company’s 3D Touch feature, making it pressure sensitive as well.

However, it’s also important to note that all of these details are simply rumours for now. To top it off, the report originated from Digitimes, which, at this time, doesn’t actually have a good track record when it comes to speculations and rumours.

In another related news, there has also been more speculations and evidence that point out the disappearance of the headphone jack to let Apple shave off a few millimetres off of the iPhone 7. It will even come with a better antenna band design, which was negatively received with the iPhone 6 variants.

Furthermore, there will also be an iPhone 7 Plus that will feature a dual-lens camera setup similar to Android handsets such as the LG G5 and the Huawei P9. While these may seem new features for the iPhone, it may look a tad stale especially if you’re coming from a feature-packed Android handset that comes with neat innovations as well as new gimmicks to please the crowd.
