The iPhone 7 release date has arrived and the hype did not lie. Moreover, it is now dust and water resistant.

The wait for the iPhone 7 release date is over after endless speculations. Apple’s September 2016 Special Event revealed the latest models of their smartphone line along with a bonus: an upgrade of the Apple Watch. It would appear the new iPhone lived up to the expectations raised by earlier reports about its likely features.

Among the biggest changes to its look is the absence of the headphone jack. This time around, the Lightning port delivers power as well as digital audio stream via a pair of Lightning earphones. However, Apple VP Phil Schiller did acknowledge the existence of older technology. Thus, the addition of a 3.5mm adapter accommodates the use of existing headphones for everyone to enjoy. Alternatively, the new Apple AirPods offer wireless connection. The speakers on the new iPhone 7 also got an upgrade as they are now 50% louder than before. Moreover, the speakers are at the top and bottom, offering a stereo sound experience.

The new camera system of the iPhone 7 will excite many, as it now comes with the dual lens earlier touted. Yet the earlier revelation also stands true. This particular feature is only available in the Plus model. In terms of storage capacity, the 16GB model is confined to only the SE. Thus, the minimum level is 32GB. Consumers who want more internal storage can opt for the 128GB and 256GB capacities available in the higher specs variants.

Gizmodo Australia estimated this to be 13 or 14 hours of wireless video watching depending on the model.
