The next upgrade to iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, which is the iPhone 7 Pro, is expected to have dual cameras.

According to Phone Arena, there are rumours that a certain iPhone 7 model may have the “Pro” suffix due to its premium features

Theories of the name was based on the iPad Pro released last year and phone enthusiasts usually make speculations on the names of upcoming devices based on previously released ones. This confirms that there’s a chance for the “Pro” monicker to be attached to a unique iPhone 7 model.

The upcoming models will measure 4.7 and 5.5 inches for the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus respectively. Whether these will really be called iPhone 7 Pro, iPhone 7 Plus or simply iPhone Pro, nothing is confirmed as of the moment since everything is still at rumour stage. However, the iPhone 7 Pro is said to be a premium edition to the iPhone 7 Plus due to its cameras having DSLR-like capabilities.

What makes iPhone 7 Pro special is the presumption that it will be the only model to feature a dual-camera and this is believed to be a game-changer in the smartphones industry. Forbes made mention that the two camera system is developed by imaging specialist LinX which Apple acquired a year ago. The snappers are not only said to be capable of taking speed shots or better resolution at low light conditions but they feature 2-3x optical zoom capabilities. These improvements and innovations will bring smartphones closer to what DSLR cameras can achieve and further solidify Apple’s “Shot on iPhone” promotional campaign.

In addition to the advanced camera functionalities, it may also have a waterproof chassis.

KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says Apple will release the iPhone 7 series to the public this September. It will follow the launch event of iPhone SE and other devices sometime this month.
