Last few days have seen a lot of rumors coming in from the supply chain revealing the innovation that Apple may bring to its products gearing up to be launched this year.
The recent word from the supply chain highlights a new advanced technology that will be gracing the iPhone 7 Plus. The past months have made it quite clear that the Plus variant will be sitting at the top of the ladder and it’s screen size won’t be the only spec differentiating it from the iPhone models launched this year.
According to a report by Patently Apple citing Business Korea, supplier LG Innotek happens to be the only supplier to Apple of the new advanced camera technology for the dual camera arrangement set to be arriving onboard the Plus variant. The report mentions an “industry source” who shared, “LG Innotek will exclusively supply dual camera module to Apple’s iPhone 7 Plus, which will come out in September this year.”
The Plus model will be the first Apple iDevice to be bringing a dual camera setup. The arrangement is said to offer better results in low-light conditions, depth analysis for enhanced post-processing as well as a number of levels of optical zoom, as noted by Forbes.
The LG G5 already features the dual-lens arrangement so the company has already tried and tested this setup with its own device. It will now be interesting to see how the optics are employed on the iPhone 7 Plus and also how the spec stacks up against that of the LG device.
For those not in the know, Sony was also rumored to be a potential supplier for the dual camera, however, it is now widely accepted that LG Innotek has signed on the dotted line. Multiple image leaks have confirmed that the Plus variant will possess dual camera along with a Smart Connector. As rumors increase in intensity, the iPhone 7 Plus seems like a device that will be grabbing everyone’s attention.
