Huawei successfully penetrated the international mobile phone market. They did this by offering gadgets at par with higher-end devices, yet at modest prices. It is then no wonder that practical tech enthusiasts waited for every new project Huawei has to offer. Now, another device comes in the form of the Huawei Mate 9.
The likely successor to Huawei’s Mate 8 surfaced in recent leaks. Namely, reports revealed that the Mate 9 appeared in a benchmarking test by Antutu. Along with this comes alleged specs of the device.
Phone Arena is one of the sources who noted the Mate 9 specs leak. They relay the rumored leaked specs as follows:
OS: Android 7.0
Display: 1080×1920 resolution, 5.9-inch display
CPU: Octa-Core @2.6GHz
Memory: 3 GB RAM
Camera: 11MP main camera, 7MP front
However, Phone Arena highlights that the leaked specs look suspicious. The source bases on the higher-end specs of the Mate 8. Hence, if the Mate 9 is its successor, then these specs are lower-end than expected.
Phone Arena also recalls an analyst’s take on the possibility of the Mate 9. Analyst Pan Jiutang projected dual 20MP rear cameras for the next Huawei Mate. Therefore, if the analyst’s projection be considered, the 11MP rear camera makes the leak less convincing.
As with every leak or rumor, people should take this specifications with a grain of salt.
