What do you get when you put Selena Gomez and Paul Rudd together? A movie that promises to tug at your heartstrings because of their amazing onscreen chemistry on the “Fundamentals of Caring.”

Netflix recently released the trailer for its upcoming flick, “Fundamentals of Caring,” HollywoodLife reported. The film adaptation of the Jonathan Evison 2012 bestseller “The Revised Fundamentals of Caregiving” originally debuted at the 2016 Sundance Festival. Its cast includes Selena Gomez, Paul Rudd, and Craig Roberts, the publication added.

Ben (played by Paul Rudd) and Trevor (played by Craig Roberts) embark on a road trip to go to see the “lamest roadside attractions” across the country, Indiewire wrote. Prior to their journey, Trevor, who suffers from muscular dystrophy, was restricted to his home with only the local news to entertain him. His life changed when he met Ben, a former writer turned personal caregiver. A personal tragedy led him to seek an alternative career.

Trevor’s mother was initially opposed to their impulsive idea. “What makes you think I would let you take my son on a road trip?” However, Ben’s charm reassured her that Trevor would be fine. “I won’t let anything happen to your son,” he told her. Along the way, they pick up runaway Dot (played by Selena Gomez). Trevor immediately took notice of her and they decide to give her a ride. Right off the bat, she shows her gift of wit that further drew Trevor to her.

“Are you a pervert?” Dot asked Ben. “I’m not a pervert,” Ben replied. “That’s exactly what a pervert would say,” Dot remarked. She eventually decides to join the duo after meeting Trevor.

“You two perverts got room for one more?” Trevor nodded when Dot asked. Their road trip takes an emotional turn as Trevor, Ben, and Dot realize the significance of hope and the true meaning of friendship, Mail Online noted. Despite their marked differences, Ben and Dot share the same goal to grant Trevor’s wish.

Dot granted Trevor’s request for a date. While Ben tries to help, his own personal tragedy might have gotten in the way. However, he makes up for it in the end. “I’m gonna call the Make A Wish Foundation, and I’ll get Katy Perry to meet us at a motel. What song do you want her to sing, while she’s doing you?” Ben asked. “Fireworks,” Trevor replied.
