Home and Away star Dan Ewing finally spoke up and revealed the reason for his separation from wife Marni Little.

In May, Ewing announced that he had split from Marni after three years of marriage. The actor, however, remained mum about the reason for their separation until now.

Ewing admitted on Kyle & Jackie O Show that he let his ego get in the way of his marriage. He blamed himself on what happened to his marriage, saying it was his biggest regret in life. “I was so concentrated on what I was going to do next and my ego and just being a typical male idiot Gemini. It’s still the biggest regret in my life,” Ewing said.

The 31-year-old actor also confessed that when his family moved to the United States, he became unhappy. This also put a strain in his relationship with Marni. He admitted that he took his family for granted. The couple shares a two-year-old child, Archie.

When asked of the possibility of reconciliation in the future, Ewing said all he can do now is to be a best man, best father to child and best actor that he can be.

In 2011, Ewing was charged with assaulting his then-fiancée Marni. Mail Online cited a report published at the time by the Sunday Telegraph, which stated police found Marni with superficial injuries on her arm. The charges were later dropped by the police.

Ewing is known for his role as Heath Braxton in Home and Away. He is set to return in Aussie’s long-running soap later this year along with on-screen partner Lisa Gormley (Bianca Scott). Both stars left the show in 2014. Ewing and Gormley also starred in a Home and Away spin-off episode. The Home and Away: An Eye for an Eye was aired in December 2015.

Home and Away 2016 will return on Monday (Aug 22) from its two-week break. The soap airs Monday to Thursday at 7:00 p.m. on Seven Network in Australia.
