“High School Musical” fans were thrilled to see the Wildcats back in their 10th year reunion special. Although fans were displeased at Zac Efron’s absence, his ex and female co-star Vanessa Hudgens was apparently relieved not to see him. Ouch.

According to Hollywood Life, Vanessa wasn’t planning to show up if Zac attended the reunion. The former couple broke up in 2010 and it looks like they haven’t settled things yet.

A source revealed on the site,

“Vanessa and Zac are on bad terms and they don’t want to see each other. Things would be awkward and there would be a lot of issues that would come up and they wouldn’t feel comfortable faking it in front of cameras. They had a horrible breakup and she really doesn’t want to hear his name let alone be in the same room with him. To say she was relieved he wasn’t there is an understatement. She probably wouldn’t have done it had he confirmed showing up for it.”

So did Zac feel the same? Did he ditch the reunion because he was avoiding Hudgens? Well, it was reported that Zac was too busy with his other film projects, “Dirty Grandpa,” and “Neighbors 2.”

In the special, Vanessa revealed,

“It is so surreal being here. It is crazy to me that ten years has gone by, and I see this cast and I feel like it was yesterday. I still love them so much, from the bottom of my heart. It was such a whirlwind – it’s just the best memories.”

Speaking of best memories, her onscreen bestie Taylor McKessie (Monique Coleman) even showed a footage of her audition with Zac. It looks like she wasn’t informed of Vanessa’s feelings towards Zac.

Ironically, in another report by Hollywood Life, Vanessa revealed that her favourite “High School Musical” scene features Troy and Gabriella at the rooftop. According to her, “it was embedded in my mind as one of the most beautiful days of my life.”

Aaaw. Do you think she still loves Zac?
