Steven Adler has finally reunited with Guns N’ Roses after more than 25 years.
Axl Rose, Slash and bassist Duff McKagan rocketed through an opening salvo at Paul Brown Stadium in Cincinnati, Ohio. The band performed an epic cover of Wings’ “Live and Let Die” and “It’s So Easy.” GNR opening lineup also included “Welcome to the Jungle,” and “Mr. Brownstone.”
Slash played some solo, while frontman Rose Axl ran all over the stage showing no signs of pain from a broken foot. And then long-estranged drummer Steven Adler came out and jammed with the rest of GNR lineup to the fans’ delight.
“On the drums, you might know this guy. Ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Steven Adler!,” Axl Rose declared to everyone’s shock. The announcement was made just moments after the band finished performing “Better” and the band’s iconic song “Sweet Child O’ Mine.”
Adler then appeared in his signature grin and huge blonde hair, while sporting an army jacket covered in patches. He played two songs with the band — “Out Ta Get Me” and “My Michelle.”
The crowd at Paul Brown Stadium did not care if the night is humid and enjoy the performance of Guns N’ Roses.
According to Billboard, many asked if Adler will join the band since Rose announced the original GNR lineup will be having a reunion. The drummer was fired in 1990 due to drug abuse.
L.A. Weekly earlier reported that the absence of the band’s former drummer was due to a medical issue. The rock star reportedly is having back surgery is not ready to tour with his former bandmates.
Adler last appeared with GNR in 2012 for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony. Rose did not join the band at the time.
Let’s see if Adler will join the rest of Guns N’ Roses gig in the coming days.
The Guns N’ Roses’ next stop is in Nashville on July 9. The “Not In This Lifetime” tour will continue to rock the US until it concludes on August 22 in San Diego at Qualcomm Stadium.
