The misfits of the galaxy return as the “Guardians of the Galaxy” sequel is on its way. Fans may have become more excited as reports revealed that the film will feature a new villain dubbed as the “weirdest character” ever.

Geek unveiled that the upcoming Marvel film will have Ego, the Living Planet, as a new character. Comic book enthusiasts may recognize Ego as a regular old planet that has a desire of conquering other planets. Thor, the God of Thunder, put an end to Ego’s ambitions of conquest.

Avid Marvel fans might ask why Ego has to appear on the “Guardians of the Galaxy” sequel instead of Thor’s solo film, “Thor: Ragnarok.” The site explained that Ego might not fit into Thor’s film because of his ability to talk and control.

However, Ego could be essential to the “Guardians” sequel because of his physical attributes that can match the galaxy with eccentric characters such as Rocket Racoon and tree-man Groot.

Their observation might be plausible, but director James Gunn has not confirmed anything about the film yet. Fans may have to wait a bit more if Ego will be included as a side character or the main villain.

There are many unanswered questions about this film apart from those connected with Ego.

Notably, an earlier report stated that “Infinity War” director Joe and Anthony Russo hinted on a union between the Avengers and the Guardians.

“That is another one that we would have to reserve as a surprise,” Joe Russo told Comic Book.

Prior to these rumors, actors are called on to join the film to work alongside Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Chris Pratt and Zoe Saldana.

“Guardians of the Galaxy 2” kicks off in theaters on May 5, 2017.
