As a plot device, the Infinity Stones have been greatly present in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It was first seen in “Captain America: The First Avenger,” then was showcased how important of an artifact the objects are in “Thors: The Dark World.” Thus far, four stones have been introduced in the MCU, leaving only two to be seen. The sequel of “Guardians of the Galaxy” seems to be the best movie to put it into play, but director James Gunn has some “other fish to fry.”
The director of “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” held a Q&A session on his Facebook page, answering a couple of questions through a live video feed for fans of MCU and the “Guardians of the Galaxy.” It’s no secret that the film will hit production phase in Atlanta soon. However, he shared an interesting information afterwards about what the film is not about.
Much to the surprise of the fans, the film will not feature any Infinity Stones. “We’re not really so much about the Infinity Stones in Guardians 2. Is that a spoiler? It’s not really a thing,” said the director.
“Guardians of the Galaxy” explained where the Infinity Stones came from, and later showcased its tremendous power when Ronan the Accuser harnessed it. However, it’s yet unknown if the stones will still play a part in the sequel.
Fans have also been expecting to see the big bad Thanos himself to make an appearance in the sequel. He will be setting his plans into motion and head on to “Avengers: Infinity War,” while the Guardians will have a different big bad to take on.
“As I’ve said before, Thanos isn’t in this movie. I think he’s gonna have a little bit to do and say when it comes to a certain wars and infinity. We’ve got other fish to fry in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.” said Gunn.
“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” is slated for an April 2017 release. Details are still sparse. However, you can probably expect rumours and speculations circulating across the internet before anything official goes out.
