“Guardians of the Galaxy 2” already has a cast full of formerly obscure comic book characters. Before the first movie’s release, not many people knew who Star Lord or Groot were. Will the sequel introduce a really powerful, but lesser known character from the comic books?

Marvel has mostly kept mum about their additional casting decisions for this movie. However, according to Cinema Blend, Anna Kendrick confirmed Squirrel Girl’s the superhero she would most like to play. “My brother sent me a ‘Squirrel Girl’ comic because he thinks I should [play her]. I don’t know what Squirrel Girl does other than be half squirrel, but I could be half squirrel!” the actress told reporters.

Squirrel Girl will likely not be in “Guardians of the Galaxy 2” since she isn’t exactly a known ally of the team. But some fans have played around with the idea of these characters joining forces after Kendrick’s comments came out. “To me the most ridiculous part was [writer Ethan Anderton] stating that Squirrel girl sounds too goofy for the MCU. Is Ethan smoking dope? How is that more goofy than Groot or Rocket Raccoon [from ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’]?” one fan said in a comment to Slash Film’s report on the matter.

Of course, Marvel still has the final say about Squirrel Girl’s inclusion in future projects. Previous reports suggested the iconic comic book character might soon find a small screen home. But the studio has not confirmed this yet.

What would Kendrick look like as Squirrel Girl? An enterprising fan made a movie poster with the actress surrounded by squirrels and playing the Marvel role she wants most. Check out actress Anna Kendrick as Squirrel Girl  below.

Will Marvel ever make a project involving Kendrick or Squirrel Girl? The project remains a “far-fetched” idea at the moment. But the studio can always change their mind. Stay tuned for updates.

Meanwhile, a couple of Marvel characters who will definitely be back on screen are Star Lord, Groot, Gamora and Drax. Fans can check them out when “Guardians of the Galaxy 2” hits the big screen on May 5th, 2017.
