It is not known if the need to be delinquent is the driving force why “Grand Theft Auto 5” is so popular but one thing’s certain – the open world action game sold about 60 million copies.

Aside from the fact that the fifth title of the series was widely anticipated, aggressive marketing caused the game to smash sales records. It earned “Game of the Year” awards from multiple publications that cater to gaming and technology and it is also considered as the fifth best selling video game, according to GameRant.

“Grand Theft Auto 5” may have been released 3 years ago but it turns out to be number one most talked about game in Twitter. The game garnered 30 million tweets, earning the top spot as the most tweeted about game in 2015. The said chart was compiled by Twitter Gaming and reported in IGN.

GTA 5 was first made available for Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 in September 2013 and was then later released on Playstation 4 and Xbox One in November 2014. A year later, it was launched for PC on April 2015.

Players get to choose between three main characters to fulfill shooting or heist missions– Michael De Santa is a former bank robber, Franklin Clinton is an African-American repo man, and Trevor Philips is a deranged bank robber.

In the game, players are able to switch between first person view or third person view on the fly depending on what the situation demands. Its open world can be traversed either by foot or by driving a vehicle.

“Call of Duty: Black Ops III” ranked second spot as the second most tweeted game despite being released only 2 months ago. The military fiction game has 25.5 million tweets under its wing. FIFA 16 earned the third spot with 7.1 milllion tweets, which is almost less than half compared to the second spot.
