Fans witnessed the arrival of the GoPro Hero 4 back in 2014 and now comes in the word that the GoPro Hero 5 could well be launching this year.
According to report on Day Herald, GoPro CEO Nick Woodman announced that the camera will indeed be launching this year. However, the exact date hasn’t been revealed. Rumours are rife that the GoPro Hero 5 will be introduced to the world in October 2016. Earlier reports had suggested that the next-gen camera from GoPro would be launching in the first half of 2016. But the company decided to launch another product, the Karma Drone, prior to the launch of the Hero 5.
As is the case with any popular gadget, rumours mills begin to churn out details months in advance and the Hero 5 is no exception to the rule. According to ChristianToday, the upcoming gadget from GoPro is expected to receive some serious upgrades in comparison to its predecessor. To begin with, the waterproof camera is rumoured to be functional up to a depth of 60 metres underwater, whereas its predecessor is capable of braving depths up to only 20 metres.
Another major bump up is its battery, the GoPro Hero 5 is speculated to house a 2,800mAH battery, which is quite a significant upgrade from the 1,160mAH battery embedded in the GoPro 4. This would ensure that the snapper lasts for longer hours. Furthermore, the device is expected to come powered by a Snapdragon chipset. The GoPro 5 is also predicted to possess the capability of recording 8k quality videos. Its predecessor is capable of capturing 4k quality videos. The rumoured spec sheet sure makes it sound like a gadget that will be packing in quite a punch. So, the adventurous souls out there should keep an eye out for this one.
