Alicia Florrick and other cast members of The Good Wife may appear in the new series BrainDead, according to creators Robert and Michele King.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the couple dismissed the rumors that BrainDead is the spinoff of The Good Wife.
“The Kings haven’t ruled out introducing characters from Alicia Florrick’s world into the former, in addition to the several Good Wife actors who are already set to appear on BrainDead (see: Zach Grenier, Megan Hilty),” the report said.
Robert King said that in their estimation, Alicia could play the role of a lawyer for Luke and Laurel, so they just thought about Julianna Margulies whom they have worked for a long time. However, they still haven’t decided whether or not the actress will retain her name in The Good Wife or play a different lawyer this time.
According to IMDB, BrainDead is a story of Claudia Monarch who works on Capitol, which is her first ever job. Meanwhile, she realizes that everybody seems to doing nothing, and then comes to a conclusion that aliens have actually descended upon earth and has made the brains of legislators and the staff members as their main menu.
Michele King shared to E! News that they didn’t really think about any connection to the The Good Wife when they took on BrainDead.
“We did what we wanted to do and it turned out it was quite different,” she said.
CBS previously confirmed the reports about The Good Wife spinoff, reported Variety. The show will revolve around Diane Lockhart (Christine Baranski) and Lucca Quinn (Cush Jumbo) in the aftermath of Alicia’s betrayal in court. After Diane slapped Alicia who walked off from the confrontation.
“There has been talk about a spinoff,” Robert King told Deadline. “I’m not even sure where the process would be, but we love these characters, and if anyone made a deal with us today, we would be bringing every single one back.”
BrainDead will debut on Monday, June 13, at 10 p.m. on CBS. Meanwhile, the yet untitled spinoff of The Good Wife will premiere in spring next year on the CBS All Access.
