Glee star Jamie Lee Curtis opened up about her battle with opiate addiction and how she can relate to Prince.

Curtis said she could not believe it herself when it was reported that Prince was allegedly addicted to painkillers. The actress said she can relate to it because she was once hooked on painkillers herself.

“So, awaiting final toxicology, it has now been reported in the New York Times that Prince was toxic. I can relate. I was toxic too,” Curtis wrote in a blog for the Huffington Post on Thursday.

“I too, waited anxiously for a prescription to be filled for the opiate I was secretly addicted to. I too, took too many at once. I too, sought to kill emotional and physical pain with pain killers. Kill it. Make it stop,” she added.  “Once the phenomenon of craving sets in, it is often too late,” Curtis continued.

The “Scream Queens” star narrated that her struggle began after she was prescribed painkillers following a medical procedure. Fortunately for her, she has been clean for nearly two decades.

“I am one of the lucky ones as I have been in recovery from opiate addiction for over 17 years,” she wrote.

The actress added that she “[mourns] the passing of a great artist” and also “the passing of potential artists past and present, caught in this deadly vise.” She then called for people to “work harder, look closer and do everything we can not to enable and in doing so, disable, our loved ones who are ill.”

Meanwhile, Jamie Lee Curtis is set to come back and reprise her role as Dean Cathy Munsch in upcoming second season of “Scream Queens.” Lea Michele will also returned in season two of Fox series.

“Scream Queens” season two will be filmed in Los Angeles, relocating from New Orleans where season one was filmed. A premiere date for the upcoming season has yet to be announced.
