Everyone hoping for a Dean-Rory romantic rekindling in the Gilmore Girls revival will be stumped to learn that none of that sort might be in place for the former couple. Actor Jared Padalecki revealed that while he will be back in Stars Hollow as Dean Forester, there will be “closure” for his character.
At a fan convention for The CW series Supernatural, Padalecki hinted that a lot about his character’s fate will be explained in Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. The 33-year-old actor shared that Gilmore Girls creator Amy Sherman-Palladino personally contacted him to do a “cool scene” for the show.
“She was like, ‘Listen, it’s a set that we already run and own, it’s an actress that already is working every day, so let us know,’” Padalecki said, as quoted by Entertainment Weekly. It is presumed that the actress he’s referring to is Bledel.
The said scene will take place in Doose Market, the exact location where Dean and Rory shared their first kiss.

“So Dean has a cool scene in the market he used to work at,” he added. “It’s a really nice scene that gave me closure.” To recall, Dean’s exit from the original Gilmore Girls run was very abrupt because he got cast as one-half of the main leads in Supernatural. He was suddenly pulled out of Stars Hollow in Gilmore Girls Season 5 without so much as a goodbye.
Padalecki said it was a “fun” to finally wrap up Dean’s story in a “really cool way.”
Jared Padalecki was a regular Gilmore Girls cast member from 2000 to 2005, starting with Gilmore Girls Season 1. He was Rory’s high school sweetheart, Us Magazine wrote. She later dated Jess Mariano (Milo Ventimiglia) and Logan Huntzberger (Matt Czuchry).
The question of whether Rory will get back together with any of her exes is still wrapped in mystery. At the ATX Festival in Austin, Texas in 2015, Padalecki and Czuchry were rooting for a Jess-Rory hookup, while Ventimiglia was all for Team Dean.
The Gilmore Girls revival is expected to premiere on Netflix later this year.
