Melissa McCarthy will be reprising her role as Sookie in Netflix’s upcoming revival of Gilmore Girls. There was a lot of confusion and concern over whether McCarthy will come back to her role as the Dragonfly Inn’s chef and Lorelai’s best friend.

McCarthy made the announcement while she was on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, says Entertainment Weekly.

It was Sherman-Palladino, who mentioned that McCarthy’s “f—ing busy” schedule was the cause the actress wasn’t taken into Gilmore Girls‘ four-part continuation. “But the thing I have said is, ‘Look, if Melissa is available and has an afternoon free, I’ll write her a scene’.”

According to Palladino, McCarthy was one of them and they would be more than happy to squeeze her into the slot if she has a “spare moment to run over to the set.”

He is even game if she comes in for just a cameo.

“And if it’s a last-minute thing, I would write her in and we would figure it out. That’s the way we left it.” Palladino said.

While talking to Ellen, McCarthy said that she has been asked to reprise her role in Gilmore Girls so many times. She added that they’re making four new movies of a show, which is very close to her heart for four years, and they were unable to get a schedule to work.

“There was a whole thing, and then I was going to be out of the country, and literally about an hour and a half ago, we figured out that I’m going to go back and do it, and I am so excited!” she said.

“They’re going to be amazing.”

Palladino made the invite this week in an interview. There she said that they are here until May 10 and she knows what the scene is. According to Palladino, McCarthy can drive up and shoot the scene.

“I can get her in and out in two hours,” said Palladino.

According to TV Line, McCarthy will tape her Gilmore Girls appearance in the upcoming days.
