Actor Dan Aykroyd appears determined to give “Ghostbusters” 2016 all the support he can offer.
The original Ghostbuster took his campaign to social media to express his happiness over the reboot’s new team, Movie Web reported. The “originator of the original,” as Aykroyd described himself, watched what appears to be the “completed” version of “Ghostbusters” 2016, the publication noted.
Aykroyd watched the movie together with two other original cast members of the franchise, actors Bill Murray and Ernie Hudson. His latest tweet is a follow-up to his earlier declaration about the reboot’s brilliance, which some noted as self-serving given his role as one of its executive producers.

To improve its chances at the box office, the casts of the original and the reboot assembled on “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” HollywoodLife reported. The gathering was “beyond epic,” the publication described. The presence of singer Ray Parker Jr., who sang the original theme song, completed the night.
“We’re really, really happy,” Dan Aykroyd told the audience when asked about the reboot. He even gave it two thumbs up. Even Bill Murray shared his thoughts on the new version.
“There are both men and women in this film, call them girls, because I am a boy,” Murray said as a likely hit on misogynist accusations of the reboot, the publication surmised. Yet his best verdict might be the biggest praise “Ghostbusters” 2016 has received so far, the publication remarked.
“It was only cause I knew these girls were funny. When you see the film, and you’ll delighted in this film. It sort of rumbles along in the beginning and you’re going ‘Oh God, are they going to pull this thing off?’ There is no quit in these girls,” Murray said.
“This is a tough movie to pull off cause it’s a big concept, there’s a lot on the plate, there’s a lot of expectation and Danny, Annie, Ernie and I were just screaming, cheering like it was a sporting event,” he added.
