Game of Thrones star Kit Harington dies as another character named John. Popularly known as Jon Snow in the hit HBO fantasy drama series, he appears in “The Death and Life of John F. Donovan,” a new film by Cannes veteran Xavier Dolan.

The first English-language film by the renowned foreign film director stars the man of the moment, Kit Harington. According to The Wrap, he isn’t the only actor who brings in the star power.

The ensemble cast reportedly includes Hollywood bigwigs like Natalie Portman, Jessica Chastain, Thandie Newton, Susan Sarandon, Kathy Bates, Michael Gambon and Ben Schnetzer.

In this new challenge, Harington plays a character that isn’t too far removed from real life. John F. Donovan is an actor which Dolan describes as “a young man striving to be great, to be remembered as a great actor.”

He described the somewhat morbid plot in a recent interview with CNN. Instead of focusing on Donovan’s life and the way it eventually ends in his death, the movie works in reverse.

Dolan says that it starts out with Donovan’s death. It then shifts focus on every other character in the story, and how they each find out about Donovan’s passing. In the process, the narrative tells a story about the hardships and struggles in the life of an actor.

Harington found time to star in the movie, despite being busy filming Game of Thrones Season 7. In the series, his character Jon Snow, rose up from being an obscure bastard child in a story which revolves around nobles.

Six seasons later, Jon Snow has become one of the most beloved characters in the series. He has since risen up to become the Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch, and had also been killed and revived.

Since “The Death and Life of John F. Donovan” is perceived to mirror real life, there won’t likely be any chance of the character rising up from  the dead.

In any case, the film is definitely something to look forward to for fans of Game of Thrones star Kit Harington.
