The creators of “Game of Thrones” should make up their own ending for the series. Or at least, Game of Thrones Season 8 should have an ending different from that of George R.R. Martin’s novels.  The creator of “The Walking Dead” comic series, Robert Kirkman, earlier said.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Kirkman mentioned “Game of Thrones” while discussing the TV adaptation of his own comic books. He has yet to finish writing “The Walking Dead.” So, it is still possible for the AMC show based on his work to catch up with him. He ended up talking about Martin and his books because something similar happened to the author recently.

“I would never do that,” Kirkman said. “That’s the one thing I’m disappointed in George R.R. Martin for doing. He should have just been like, [Expletive] you. You make it up now, I’ll get to mine when I’m ready.” Martin has yet to release the final two books of his series. HBO’s take on his novels, on the other hand, have already caught up with the events in his published novels. The current season has even revealed plot points that have yet to be explored in Martin’s books. Kirkman reportedly believes Martin should have kept these story lines to himself and let HBO make up their own path.

According to Variety, however, the comics writer has later backtracked on his statements about Martin. “‘Disappointed’ is probably the wrong word,” Kirkman wrote on Twitter. “I was just joking about how I would have handled that situation…Martin is a far better writer than I’ll ever be.”

Meanwhile, Game of Thrones Season 8 has yet to be confirmed. It was earlier reported that the show’s creators, David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, are just planning on making the seventh season the show’s final installment.
