If five seasons of Game of Thrones proves anything, it’s that it isn’t always easy to be a Stark.

It certainly was not easy to be Sansa Stark in the most recent season of HBO’s hit show: She had to return home to Winterfell, marry Ramsay Bolton (Iwan Rheon) — the possibly psychotic bastard son of the man who fatally stabbed her brother at a wedding — and endure being occasionally tortured and raped by her new husband.
However, things might just turn around for the older Stark daughter, as actress Sophie Turner, who plays Sansa, hinted to Entertainment Weekly (EW) last week.
“I mean this season is a really, really big one for Sansa,” Turner told EW during a Screen Actors Guilds Awards party in Los Angeles, adding that the coming season is “probably her best season yet.”
“It’s her really coming into her own,” Turner explained, “this season, [Sansa] really commands the respect that she deserves and she grabs hold of it and she runs with it and it’s really good.”
Fans can also expect to “finally” get a storyline they’ve craved for the past five seasons, Turner further teased.
“It was amazing because [in] the past five seasons, it feels like it’s been building up and up to that,” she said.
Last season’s finale saw Sansa jumping off a seemingly high wall with Reek/Theon Greyjoy (Alfie Allen) in an attempt to escape. Their fates were left unclear. However, as Turner points out, “You can only suffer so much before she finally gets…the respect that she deserves.”
Sansa Stark did suffer as she, according to Buzzfeed.com, previously was forced to watch the public beheading of her father, was nearly wedded to the same guy who ordered the brutal execution, and has not seen her brothers and sisters since leaving their home in season 1.
Season 6 of Game of Thrones will premiere on April 24.
