“Game of Thrones” has scenes shocking enough to make any actor a little uncomfortable. Emilia Clarke has confessed she needed a little liquid courage during her nude scene in Game of Thrones and revealed that vodka was a helpful companion.

“All I needed was vodka and some flattering lighting and I was ready,” she told The Sun.

Emilia Clarke, who plays Daenerys Targaryen, Mother of Dragons, was seen emerging from a blazing wooden chamber, naked and triumphant. The 29-year-old actress appeared to ooze body confidence as she stripped down to nothing in the HBO medieval drama, causing shockwaves among her legion of loyal fans.

“It was just a wonderful, strong moment I wanted to own, a real empowering, girl-power wow scene,” she continued. “I was so thrilled with it. It’s not a sexy scene, she’s not naked for no reason, it’s not gratuitous. She’s naked because she’s just destroyed her enemies in this almighty blaze after they underestimated her.”

Emilia Clarke said she has no doubts with appearing nude on screen, providing it adds to the narrative of the show or movie.

“If a nude scene forwards a story or is shot in a way that adds insight into characters, I’m perfectly fine with it,” she told the publication. “Sometimes explicit scenes are required and make sense for the characters or story, as they do in Westeros. If it’s gratuitous then I will discuss with a director on how to make it more subtle.”

One of the most epic scenes of Game of Thrones is when Daenerys literally burned the house down to escape her arrogant Dothraki captors who are killed in the conflagration – and emerged from the flames unscathed but minus her clothes, of course.

After the scene aired, the proud star appeared overjoyed that she filmed such a powerful shot, telling Entertainment Weekly,“I’d like to remind people the last time I took my clothes off was season 3,” she says. “That was awhile ago. It’s now season 6. But this is all me, all proud, all strong. I’m just feeling genuinely happy I said ‘Yes.’ That ain’t no body double!”
