“Captain America: Civil War” is one of the most highly anticipated Marvel flicks this year.  Over the weekend, “Iron Man” and “Captain America” fans alike flocked the movie houses to get a first-hand experience of the new movie.

As reports suggested, the film which is top billed by Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr., was an automatic box office success.  According to the latest numbers from comScore, the movie has grossed $181.8M on its opening weekend alone.

The superhero movie also holds the fifth-biggest opening, just trailing behind two other Marvel flicks, “Avengers: Age of Ultron ($191.3 million) and “The Avengers ($207.4 million). Combined with its international release, “Captain America: Civil War” has already earned around $678.4 million globally, USA Today reported.

It’s global success can be attributed to its superhero-studded cast which included other Marvel favorites: Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan), Ant-Man (Paul Rudd), Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), Vision (Paul Bettany,) War Machine (Don Cheadle), Falcon (Anthony Mackie), and a glorious first look at Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman) and the new Spider-Man (Tom Holland).

Apart from raking in millions, the new movie has also garnered positive responses from moviegoers and critics alike. The movie scored 90% on the Rotten Tomatoes freshness metre while IMDb and Metacritic gave the film 8.5/10 and 75% respectively.

“This is such an awesome way to officially kick off summer,” comScore senior media analyst Paul Dergarabedian said. “It’s just a phenomenal movie with great word of mouth and excellent social-media buzz. A lot of people are figuring out that this is a de facto Avengers movie, and it goes beyond Captain America to incorporate other superheroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.”

Now that the hype for the third “Captain America” movie is starting to simmer down and its ticket sales continue to rise, Team Cap and Team Iron Man can finally get a good rest.  However, given that these superheroes exist to protect mankind from the evils of this world, what could possibly happen if they existed in a different universe- a very plain and safe universe?

Can you imagine your favourite Marvel character as an ordinary person?
