Fans welcomed the addition of Helen Mirren to Fast 8. Yet could her jitters to connect with the long-time cast of the franchise jeopardize her performance?

Despite her stellar careers and numerous acting awards, Helen Mirren expressed fears about joining Fast 8. Technically, she would be the new kid on the block. Hence, she is quite concerned at how their response to her would be.

“I’m very nervous because when you’re going on to a set with people who have been doing this for [so long], basically, they all know each other, they’ve worked together, they know what they’re doing. I’ll be, you know, the newcomer, the newbie. I’ve only got one day, and I’ll probably f**k it up, oh God. I think they’ll be nice to me. I hope they’ll be nice to me,” Mirren told Entertainment Weekly.

Her fears might have merit given the close relationship among the cast and crew. As it turns out, most of them have been together since the franchise began. Moreover, the death of Paul Walker in 2012 cemented their bond as a family. Hence, Mirren could be wary her arrival would upset the balance. Nonetheless, Vin Diesel would likely go out of his way to welcome the Dame since she is a fan.

A recent rumor speculated her role as a villain. However, additional details Mirren shared about her character might disappoint fans even more. Sadly, she only has a day of filming on Fast 8. Moreover, she will not be able to display her driving skills in the movie. Although she teased about her possible appearance in future films of the franchise, there could be a snag to her forecast about Fast and Furious 12. Vin Diesel made the announcement to Trilogy earlier this year that the saga will end. Hence, it’s not likely Mirren would get the chance to drive. Unless the actress knows something about the franchise that no else does.
