The star of Maze Runner, Dylan O’Brien, was critically injured on the sets of The Maze Runner: Death Cure series, his upcoming movie. The actor was hit by a car while he was shooting for the scene.

He fell back of a set that was supposed to look like a train, Deadline reported. The production of the film will be shut while he recovers.

He said to be suffering from “serious injuries,” TMZ reports. He broke multiple bones.The 24-year-old actor has been taken hospital in British Columbia for the treatment.

“He was immediately transferred to a local hospital for observation and treatment. Production on the film will be shut down while he recovers. Our thoughts go out to Dylan for a full and speedy recovery.”The Death Cure in Vancouver, Canada,” Fox spokesperson said in a statement, according to Hollywood Reporter.

The 2014 film of Maze Runner series was a major hit in US with an estimated budget of US$34 million ($45 million), its 2015 follow-up The Scorch Trials earned US$82 million ($108 million) domestically.

He is playing the character of Thomas, a 16-year-old boy who wakes inside the underground elevator with no memory of his identity in the Maze Runner series. Known for his role in Teen Wolf, the actor was born to an actress mother and a father who is a famous cameraperson.

“Harrison Ford was the last major actor to suffer a severe injury on set: in 2014, the actor broke his leg while shooting Star Wars: The Force Awakens when a hydraulic metal door on the Pinewood set of the Millennium Falcon struck the star,” The Guardian reports.

He has received full support from his team. James Dashner tweeted, “I just want to let everyone know that yes, Dylan was hurt, but that he’s going to be okay. Not life threatening in any way. Production is postponed but certainly not cancelled. All that matters now is that Dylan recovers. We love you, Dylan!!!”

Maze Runner: The Death Cure was set to release on Feb. 17, 2017.
