British drama television series “Downton Abbey” is finally ending it’s sixth and final season. A Christmas special would be its last episode on the series. But what can fans expect?

Based on the official stills released by ITV, Unreality TV mentioned that fans must prepare themselves for more changes and surprises. One photo showed the “Downton Abbey” children playing in a graveyard. It looks like the episode will indeed feature the rumored wedding.

The site mentioned that Lady Edith (Laura Carmichael) and her fiance, Bertie Pelham (Harry Hadden-Paton) looked thoughtful in one of the photos as they sat in the churchyard. They could possibly be observing the children. The site thus speculated that this could be the scene where Lady Edith admits her secret about Marigold.

In another photo, Lady Mary (Michelle Dockery) would probably have a “touching moment” with her mother-in-law Isobel Crawley (Penelope Wilton). Unreality TV noted that one of them might just announce the engagement.

One photo showed Molesley (Kevin Doyle) preparing for his new teaching career. And in another, Lady Edith and Lady Rosamund (Samantha Bond) both looked “unimpressed” where a wedding dress unveiling might be happening.

In September, Mirror noted that an outsider was reported to have found props left in an Oxfordshire church which was regularly used in filming the series. There were vows and minister’s greeting which would likely be used in the wedding scene. The pamphlet revealed the wedding between Lady Edith and Bertie Pelham.

Mirror reported that a TV source made a revelation to newspaper The Sun. The source said, “As it’s the last one, there are going to be some absolutely massive plot lines. One of them is this wedding,”

Unreality TV noted in another report that in the earlier series, Earl of Grantham’s daughters weren’t encouraged to marry “a lowly agent.” However, it looks like the wedding will indeed push through.

The final episode of “Downton Abbey” will be shown on ITV this Sunday, November 8th, at 9PM.
