“Doctor Strange” may not come out until November 2016 but fans do not have to wait that long to see Benedict Cumberbatch transform into the mystical Dr. Stephen Strange.

In an exclusive reveal, Entertainment Weekly released six new photos of Cumberbatch himself in character as Doctor Strange. The photos, which were shared by EW in slideshow format, featured a combination of the doctor (with and without his powers), beautifully made concept arts, a set design, and EW’s cover for its Doctor Strange feature. The photos were adequately captioned with tidbits about the film.

The caption of the concept art featuring a disheveled Benedict Cumberbatch reveals that the coveted “Sherlock” actor almost did not make it to the role.

Entertainment Weekly quotes Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige in saying:

“Benedict was someone that we were very interested in for a very long time. But he kept getting more popular, and more popular, and he kept getting busier, and busier, and it looked like the timing wasn’t going to work. So we looked at some other actors for a while and ultimately decided, ‘We have to try and make it work with Benedict and with his schedule.’”

Meanwhile, IGN reveals that the photo shoot conducted by EW is the first time ever that Cumberbatch was able to wear the character’s costume.

According to the website, Cumberbatch revealed that the “Doctor Strange” production team have not yet played any of the scenes that feature the Sorcerer Supreme’s magical abilities. In line with this, Cumberbatch felt self-conscious with the photo shoot.

However, apart from the marvelous work that Cumberbatch has done on the character with regard to the photos, the concept art also reveals that the upcoming film will feature magical and stunning visuals that fans may not have seen yet in other Marvel films.

“Doctor Strange”, which stars Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Rachel McAdams, Mads Mikkelsen, and Tilda Swinton, is scheduled for release on November 4, 2016.
