“Descendants of the Sun” might just have a second season run. Or at least, the network KBS is in talks to continue the hit Korean series. It was earlier reported that the show’s stars, Song Hye Kyo and Song Joong Ki, might not be available to return next season. Will producers be forced to cast a different pair of actors for the show’s next installment?
According to Movie News Guide, there are rumors that producers will instead create stories that focus on other characters for season 2. In particular, they are reportedly considering Sergeant Major Seo Dae Young (Jin Goo) and General Yoon’s daughter Yoon Myung Joo (Kim Ji-Won). The film blog claims this might be a plausible choice for the producers. “The couple [received] love from viewers as much as the lead characters did, Movie News Guide said. “In fact, their scenes were so much more romantic.”
However, these rumors have yet to be confirmed. As Games N Guide pointed out, KBS has not released any official statement about “Descendants of the Sun” Season 2. Song Hye Kyo and Song Joong Ki might even still come back for the show’s possible next run.
Meanwhile, the show’s leading lady recently shared her feelings about the first season’s finale. “I’m really happy that the drama ended well,” Song Hye Kyo told ATimes. The actress also admitted that she might have fallen for her onscreen lover’s charms while watching the series as a mere viewer. “Song Joong Ki played his role so attractively, which even made my heart flutter,” she said. “After I finished filming in December when the drama was aired, I watched it as a viewer and fell for his charms.”
Song Hye Kyo also said she had enjoyed working on the series with him. “He is younger than me, but I thought I found many things to learn from him,” the actress explained. “He is such a great person.”
