After the box office success of “Deadpool,” will Ryan Reynolds conquer outer space in his next film?

An earlier report revealed Reynolds had his eyes set on “X-Force.” The actor made it clear it was at the top of his priority list.

However, exclusive news from Deadline reported Reynolds is in talks to appear in the sci-fi film “Life.”

According to Deadline, Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese wrote the script. The pair also wrote the “Deadpool” screenplay. Daniel Espinosa will direct the upcoming Skydance Production.

Reynolds previously worked with Espinosa on the 2012 movie “Safe House”.

Screenrant revealed the plot for the sci-fi film.

“’Life’ follows the members of the International Space Station as they recover a sample from Mars – one that shows not only signs of life, but unprecedented (and unexpected) signs of intelligence, too,” it said.

Screenrant remarked the script for “Life” might also be a blend of various elements. The website cited the writers’ penchant for mixing genre ingredients in their scripts.

“It’s not clear yet whether Life is mix of sci-fi and drama, adventure/thriller, or horror, or a blending of all those elements – though, previous scripts from Reese and Wernick (like Zombieland and Deadpool) have mixed these various tones and genre ingredients together to varying degrees, so it’s reasonable to assume their Life screenplay is going to follow suit,” it added.

If current talks for “Life” with Reynolds do push through, he will star opposite actor Rebecca Ferguson in the movie.

Ferguson appeared in the 2015 “Mission: Impossible” film Rogue Nation”. She reprises her role as agent Ilsa Faust in “Mission: Impossible 6.” Skydance also produces the “Mission: Impossible” franchise.

In addition to “Life”, Ryan Reynolds is set to reprise his voice role in the animated film “The Croods 2,” reported. The sequel from 20th Century Fox and DreamWorks Animation hits theatres on December 22, 2017.
