Competition is fierce among contestants of any reality competition show on television. However, “Dancing With the Stars” season 22 could be the best so far with the inclusion of Nyle DiMarco as a surprising finalist.

Nyle DiMarco broke boundaries and became the first deaf finalist on “Dancing With the Stars” 2016, Us Weekly reported. DiMarco definitely overcame the odds during the semi-finals as he went up against stiff competition from the remaining couples.

“Thank you! I’m feeling honoured, inspired, and relieved,” DiMarco told the publication. “The very first week I questioned myself: Can the deaf guy make it that far against hearing people who can hear the music? And I think we deserve it. We’ve worked hard and pushed ourselves every week,” DiMarco added.

DiMarco and his dance partner Peta Murgatroyd amazed everyone with their blindfolded tango at the semi-finals, ET Online wrote. DiMarco revealed to Us Weekly how he managed to perform without the ability to hear and see.

“I can’t hear and I can’t see so that’s just three senses I had left so it was really all about holding onto Peta for dear life! Her movement is telling me what my next move is so I move with her flow,” DiMarco said.

Murgatroyd stepped up to the challenge of working with her dance partner. “It’s become a passion of mine, literally, to challenge him and create amazing dances with someone who can’t hear and to make him look like he can,” she told US Weekly.

Aside from their tango, DiMarco and Murgatroyd jived with Jenna Johnson to the song “Hit the Road Jack.” Though they missed getting a perfect score for that routine, the judges commended their all-out performance though the dance got a bit hectic at one point, HollywoodLife wrote.

Even after an injury during one of their rehearsals, Nyle DiMarco was ready to hit the dancefloor. His determination and his charm on stage is truly a combination for success.
