Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo is eager to get back in active duty, and he’s training hard for it. After missing out on the UEFA Super Cup and the team’s opening Spanish La Liga match, Ronaldo is doing everything he can in order to join his teammates as soon as possible.
“Looking good. Soon I will be back,” said Ronaldo in a caption to an Instagram video. In it, he could be seen running back and forth alongside Real Madrid teammate and countryman Fabio Coentrao. The Portuguese pair appears to be going through a routine training session at the Valdebebas grounds.
Ronaldo had already missed Real Madrid’s opening La Liga match, where the team won with a dominant 3-0 scoreline. Picking up the slack from his absence was Gareth Bale, who scored twice. Youngster Marco Asensio also scored in his first official match as a first team player.
Prior to the start of La Liga, Ronaldo had also been ruled out of the UEFA Super Cup. Real Madrid defeated Sevilla 3-2 after extra time. For that match, it was Sergio Ramos who stole the show. He netted a 93rd minute equalizer reminiscent of the 2014 UEFA Champions League final.
While his teammates are managing without him, it is clear that Ronaldo is eager to contribute. He sustained a knee injury way back in the Euro 2016 final, where he limped off after less than half an hour. He needed to go on an extended holiday break, and only returned to training early this month.
Real Madrid will be playing Celta Vigo on Saturday for their second La Liga match. It remains to be seen if Cristiano Ronaldo will be among the list of names that Zinedine Zidane will be calling up. The team manager had earlier emphasized the need to be patient in order to make sure that his players make a full recovery.
