Luis Enrique is taking Villanovense quite seriously. Barcelona will take on Villanovense for the first time at Camp Nou in Barcelona in the fourth round of the Copa Del Rey on Wednesday, Dec. 2.
Barcelona’s first leg encounter resulted in a goal-less draw which prompted Enrique to field a strong side against minnows Villanovense. According to the Daily Mail UK reports, Enrique didn’t exactly mention his starting line up for Wednesday’s clash, but he claimed that Lionel Messi would surely be a part of it.
He made it very clear that guaranteeing a place in the last 16 should be their top priority right now.
Coming back from injury, Messi, already made quite an impression in their encounter against Real Sociedad. Luis Suarez and Neymar Jr. are fierce upfront. The duo led the Catalonian attack in the absence of their star player Messi.
“Taking the first leg into account, it’s a dangerous result because a draw would eliminate us, except a 0-0, so we are approaching the game with the level of seriousness we bring to any tie,” Luis Enrique told a news conference.
“It is going to be a starting 11 that brings certainty. To win the Cup you have to get past the last 32 and right now we are tied at 0-0.”
According to Sky Sports reports, Barcelona fielded a second string XI who were unable to secure a win in their last encounter against the Villanovense side. Barcelona already extended their record of Copa del Rey titles to 27 when they beat Athletic Bilbao in the final last season, as per official reports. And they currently hold the top spot in the La Liga this season.
