Barcelona will meet Valencia in the first leg of the Copa Del Rey Cup semi-final at Camp Nou on Wednesday, Feb. 3, starting 8 PM local time.
Barcelona will be hoping to start their 2016 campaign adding the Copa Del Rey title to their name. The previous year proved be quite successful for Luis Enrique’s side as they stacked five title wins in their trophy list including the FIFA Cup World Cup in Japan.
Luis Enrique is not taking Valencia lightly as Gary Neville’s side “remains winless in eight La Liga matches since taking charge at the Mestalla,” notes Sky Sports.
FC Barcelona’s official site quoted Enrique as saying, “Valencia will create difficulties. They are a team that dares to generate pressure and they have some fine individuals. This wasn’t an easy draw for either for us. But we’re hoping to play well and set things up nicely for the second leg.”
Barcelona are now 26 games without a defeat in all competitions and continue their brilliant run at home “scoring 23 goals and conceding just 3.”
Lionel Messi is fit to play on Wednesday after “recovering from a heavy challenge from Felipe Luis,” as per sources. They defeated Atletico Madrid over the weekend.
Gary Neville commented before the match, “There have been some good results against Barcelona. It’s an important meeting and we have to be able to go back to Mestalla with a chance, that is our intention.”
Gary Neville took charge at Mestalla in December. Valencia continue to disappoint fans as they are eight games without a win in La Liga.
Valencia’s Enzo Perez will be out due to injury while top scorer Paco Alcacer is expecting his return to the training grounds.
