Copa America 2016 has entered the final phase. Now the top four teams in the tournament will fight for their place in the final. Let’s find out the possibilities in the match between USA and Argentina.

The USA does not have a rich history in soccer, unlike its Copa America counterparts like Argentina, Brazil or Mexico. However, this tournament is evidence how far the team has progressed over the last few decades.

The USA defeated Ecuador in a dramatic quarter-final match. Both teams saw red cards. Ecuador saw its coach Gustavo Quinteros getting ejected in the final moments. However, the result of the match meant the USA reached the semi-finals at the Copa America 2016, the first time since 1995.

With a legendary man like Jurgen Klinsmann as its coach, the host country plans to reach the final for the first time. This is the fourth time the team is a part of the tournament. ““This was a huge step forward tonight,” the NY Times quoted Klinsmann as saying.

Argentina has been in a sublime form, thanks to an inspiring leadership from Lionel Messi. After a hat-trick earlier, Messi scored again in the quarterfinal against Venezuela. He touched Gabriel Batistuta’s record for the national team.

“For us to be back in another semi-final of a big tournament like this one is a great achievement for these players,” the BBC quoted Messi as saying. “I’m happy for what it means and it’s nice to be next to ‘Batigol’ [Batistuta], but for me the most important thing is the result.”

Even though USA promises to give competition to Messi’s men, it is hardly a match for Argentina’s brilliance. Argentina will win it 4-1.
