Kendall Jenner skipped the rave hosted by Calvin Klein over the Coachella weekend. Fans wonder if it has anything to do with the scathing criticism she and elder sister Kim Kardashian West received from the fashion mogul.
Kendall fans might have loved her Calvin Klein campaign, but Calvin Klein was not impressed. The 73-year-old recently revealed that signing on models based on their online audience is not something he would have done.
The founder of the iconic Calvin Klein brand shared his views with Fern Mallis, who is the president of the Council of Fashion Designers of America at the Savannah College of Art and Design. While speaking about campaigns, when asked his opinion about the recent ads by Justin Bieber and Kendall Jenner, the designer revealed that it was good, reveals Fashionista. While he had some nice words for Justin Bieber, he was not so kind when it came to Kendall Jenner.
Klein could not mask his disappointment over the company’s choice of female model despite mouthing the usual “I don’t know her so well,” excuse. “Now, models are paid for how many followers they have. They’re booked not because they represent the essence of the designer, which is what I tried to do — they’re booked because of how many followers they have online,” revealed Klein.
“You know, I’m really not that familiar with it. I’m honestly not. I’m sure she’s a lovely young woman. It’s not the kind of thing I would have done, even today. Justin Bieber, yes,” he added. Inqusitr states that the fashion icon went ahead and belittled elder sister Kim Kardashian West while continuing on the topic. He said it is about prioritising creativity.
“However, if you take really exquisite photographs of the right people in the right clothes in the right location, and you put it online, that’s fine,” Klein said. “Just putting any old clothes on Kim Kardashian, long-term, isn’t going to do a thing,” he added.
Inquisitr informs that Klein also hosted the “party of the weekend” at an abandoned warehouse just off the Coachella 2016 festival grounds. The party goers consisted of hip teens and classy movie stars. However, there was no Kendall Jenner in sight. Probably because she was burned by his words.
