Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani have been together for a couple of months. The relationship is going strong amidst controversies. The “No Doubt” singer opens up how their romance went from “horrible to hopeful.”
It has been a year since she and former husband Gavin Rossdale broke up. Stefani filed a divorce against the rock frontman after finding out that he’s allegedly cheating on her with their nanny.
It might be one of the most painful experiences that she had to go through. Stefani and Rossdale were together for 13 years and have 3 children.
On the other hand, Blake Shelton experienced the same thing at nearly the same time. He broke up with ex-wife Miranda Lambert weeks before Stefani broke up with Rossdale.
And now, speaking to Harper’s Bazaar, Gwen Stefani opened up about the fateful event, and how she and Shelton managed to overcome the sad phase of their lives until they finally found each other.
First, she said that she, Pharrell Williams and Adam Levine were huddling on the set of “The Voice” when Shelton announced his divorce. Despite feeling exposed, she said that it was like a gift handed to her by having a friend who was experiencing the same thing.
“And then it was just like everything flipped,” she continues. “It went from horrible to, like, hopeful and, like, ‘Wow, God, you just don’t know what’s gonna happen next.'”
Unexpectedly, both came out in public after several dating rumors surfaced on the Internet. But hearsays about being engaged, secretly married, and expecting a child came after their announcement.
Stefani already addressed all the rumors that circulate their relationship. According to a previous report, the singer just laughs it off every time.
Meanwhile, the country crooner also told The Tennessean (via USA Today) that her current girlfriend is his saving grace. He elaborated that Stefani came into his life as a friend and as a shoulder to cry on during those hard times.
Aside from their romantic flair, Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani worked on the song “Go Ahead and Break My Heart.” Watch their performance below:
