Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” will open in cinemas beginning March 20 this year. However, early previews are being shown to select insiders and members of the press. Film critic Anthony Breznican of Entertainment Weekly has seen the film and was most impressed by it, which is a good sign. He also praised Gal Gadot’s performance as Wonder Woman in the film, though he did so without spoiling anything.

“I gotta go write, but last things I’ll say about seeing #BatmanvSuperman. (Personally, I was happy.),” wrote Breznican on Twitter. He added among other points that “Wonder Woman is fearsome.”

Breznican had recently revealed that Jenna Malone’s role had been cut from the theatrical version of “Batman V Superman” because it was becoming too crowded with many DC characters.

Early in January, Zack Snyder spoke to Filmink about the need to bring Wonder Woman on board the “Man of Steel” sequel and the reason behind casting Gal Gadot in the role of the Amazon warrior. “It’s an amazing opportunity to have Wonder Woman in the film. We haven’t had a female superhero of that magnitude, and it’s an amazing opportunity for the world to get behind an amazing, powerful female character,” Snyder had said.

Snyder had also spoken in length about casting Gal Gadot in one of the most sought-after female superhero roles. “We tested a bunch of actresses, as you can imagine. But the thing with Gal is that she’s strong, she’s beautiful, and she’s a kind person, which is interesting, but fierce at the same time. It’s that combination of being fierce but kind at the same time that we were looking for,” the “Watchmen” director said.

“She can get serious, but she’s amazingly fun to be around. And by the way, she really held her own with Ben in the screen test. Ben was like, ‘Whoa, that girl is something else!’ That was a good sign, because Ben is very tough in the scene, and he’s big and commanding. Anytime that you’re doing a test like that and you’re looking at the other person, you’re thinking, ‘Okay, that’s good stuff.’ That was part of the process, and over time as we got to know Gal, we found out how amazing she is,” Snyder added.

Gadot had expressed her excitement at being able to portray Wonder Woman to Interview Magazine in July last year. “Oh, my God, I’m so excited about this role. I feel like I’ve been given a huge opportunity to inspire people, not only women. And not because of me but because of who Wonder Woman is and what she stands for. There’s a lot of responsibility. But I have the best team and the best people to work with. It’s going to be an amazing ride, knock on wood.”

Breznican, in his tweet, also hinted at a scene between the titular superheroes which will reduce the audience to tears. He also added that “Batman v Superman” will redeem the ending of “Man of Steel” that most fans complained about.

Henry Cavill also revealed a new still of Superman from “Batman v Superman” in his Facebook account, which can be seen here.
